There's Gold In 'Em Tar Hills

Dear friends,

Here's a story starter for your children. Please have them to complete it
and share it with the witty Sangkancil.

There once was a little girl who heard that "there's gold in 'em tar
hills"........[have your children to continue here].

Possible forks:-

a)... She looked up and around and couldn't find any tar hills so she
looking down to scout the ground. She looked and she looked and there was
no gold. There were empty coke cans and soiled plastic wrappers but there
was no gold. Then one day while scanning and spanning the earth, she smelt
this most nauseous smell..........

b) She didn't quite understand what this Americanism meant so she asked her
father. "Pak...pak...apa dia ini "There's gold in 'em tar hills?".
Shuffling his shoulders and throttling his throat, Dollah Kassim replied,
"well darling". He paused, turned his head towards the window and added,
"See that cesspool over there?"......

Your children can come up with the most interesting stories if only they
are asked to, if they are made aware that you and Sangkancil are
interested. Please have them share their stories with the little
Sangkancil. You'll get even greater enthusiasm if you helped them imagine
the Sangkancil - for a picture go to <www.malaysia.net>.
