Open Question: I am an American considering moving to Malaysia..?

Tue, 2010-06-22 20:47
I live in the US, but I would really like to live in Malaysia. If you have visited the U.S. what are the similarities and differences? I really enjoyed reading all of your answers. They were all very helpful. I have done hours of research about Malaysian culture, climate, government, economy, etc. It looks beautiful there. Also, my step mom is from the Philippines and she will be much closer to home. If my family moves there, My father and stepmom want to come with us, so it will be nice to have more family there. I hate how everything in America is so sexual and exposed, I would rather be in a more conservative country because I am raising my daughter right now, and she is only 4 months old. I want her to grow up with morals and values. Thank you for all of your wonderful answers!

Open Question: Read my essay and check for errors!!! easy 10 pts :D Essay is on ..Describe an unexpected discovery?

The moon gave way to the sun with a sigh. A few high clouds drifted lazily across the azure blue sky. The bright, smiling sun peeped from the clouds. As rays of sunlight pierced through the windows of my room, the alarm clock rang loudly, jangling to all and sundry that it was 9 o’clock. My family and I will be going on a trip to Malaysia to visit my relatives. Without wasting time, I quickly bathed and get dressed. It has been quite a long time till I visited Uncle Choo and his wife. The last time I visited them was when I am six years old. Now, I am already 13 years old... Well, I was very excited to visit them! I was delighted when my parents tell me that my cousins will be going on the trip with my family too. “Tom, we are about to leave so could you please hurry up a little up there!” my mother exclaimed. “I am coming, mother!” I replied as I hurriedly went down the flight of stairs. My parents, my younger sister, Lisa, and my two cousins were already in the car. My mother was busy checking all the electrical appliances were off and the windows shut in case if anything unexpected will happen. After a while, we set off for Malaysia. I was squeezed at the back seat with my cousins as they were quite big-sized. I tolerated with their irritating antics all the way as my two cousins named, Adam and Marcus were always fighting and nudging each other. All I can do was to just relax and ignore them. Time flies quickly and before I knew it we reached Kuala Lumpur, the state where my relatives live. We were very excited. Without a hassle, we reached Uncle Choo’s house. The scenery was majestic as the house was located on top of the hill. With the waterfalls nearby, the environment was relaxing and rejuvenating to me. My cousins and I could not wait to take a dip in the relaxing waterfalls. We chatted with my relatives and it was fun. My parents had to leave me and my cousins as well as my younger sister in Uncle Choo’s house as they had a business seminar going on for 3 days. On the 2nd day at Uncle Choo’s house, my cousins and I were playing card and board games. After we were bored of playing the games, we decided to look around Uncle Choo’s house. My younger sister was sleeping soundly. We had a great time exploring the house. I found a picture when I was young at the house. “The good old days... “ I thought to myself. After a while, we found a box which looked like a treasure except that it was small in size. My eyes were glued on it as it was very attractive when I brushed the film of dust on it. Curiosity got over me and I decided to see what’s in the box. Before I could even try to open the box, I heard a loud voice behind me. It was Uncle Choo. “Don’t ever try to open that box! It’s not meant to be played with!” Uncle Choo said in his deep voice. I was shocked. Uncle Choo was a friendly man and I did not think that he would sound so strict. I ignored it and my cousins came over to me and asked what happened. I told them about the box I found near the shelves and what Uncle Choo said. “There must be something that’s in the box Uncle Choo don’t want me to know!” my thoughts drifting away. My cousins and I decided to find out what’s inside the box. Our plan was when Uncle Choo and his wife go out to buy dinner for us we will quickly scan for the small box in his room. Meanwhile, we explored the 2nd storey of Uncle Choo’s house. Although it was very dusty and dark in it, we explored the place. There were many junks up there and old clothes and other things. I was busy exploring the room when I accidentally tripped on a big key, tearing the dusty wallpaper. I was rooted to the ground at first as I did not expect it to be so sudden. My thoughts went wild when I discovered a hidden room under the wallpaper. Could this be what Uncle Choo was hiding from me? Footsteps could be heard and I quickly put up the wall paper. My cousins and I took cover behind the old and dusty boxes. It was Uncle Choo. We were lucky that he did not catch us. When Uncle Choo went down the stairs, we gathered in front of the hidden door. I picked up the key and place it into my pocket. I tried to open the door but the key was too big. “What could this door lead us to?” I asked my cousins. They shrugged their shoulders. We decided to go back downstairs before Uncle Choo spot us again. We waited and waited for dinner time. The moment we have waited for a long time finally came. Uncle Choo and his wife along with my younger sister will be going out to get us dinner. Impatiently, as soon as Uncle Choo drove away from the house, my cousins and I aimed for Uncle Choo’s room. We scanned for the small box but it was not in sight. “Where could it be? Where could it be?? “I thought in my mind. I checked in the drawers but nowhere to be found. I checked under Uncle Choo’s bed pillows and there it was. The mysterious box. “Guys, I found it! I found it! “I shrieked with joy. I took out the key and it fitted nicely. What we foun
